[SOLVED] Need OSX Yosemite Installer

Hello there. A customer has brought in an old MacBook Pro A1281 with a dead hard drive. I have managed to install an SSD with OSX Leopard. But need to upgrade it to OSX Yosemite Can someone provide me with a link to download this please as I cannot find it anywhere. Many Thanks

Hello Mark. No idea the computer was dead and she had not used it for a while. Luckily she had the original install CD that came with the MAC when new so have managed to get it working with that OSX Leopard

She was sure she had Yosemite on it before it died

Yosemite here you go I think it is the final version with all updates or the first version with no updates

You can only upgrade in place from Leopard to snow leopard. Only a clean install.

Not necessarily, if you boot pressing ALT key and select the installer usb you can install on top of that one with no issues, but if you try to install within macOS then you need to be at least on macOS 10.8

Thanks Mark and overburnz - Have successfully upgraded this Mac to SSD and Yosemite. Luckily I had an old OSX Lion Install Disk so managed to do a clean install of that and upgraded to OSX with the Yosemite Installer from overburnz

depending on the MacBook model i would advice to update to at the minimum of El Capitan

If the machine came with 10.5, Leopard, then 10.11, El Capitan, is probably the end of the line.
