[REQUEST] Need help connecting hard drive / USB adapter

I have purchased a SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 adapter for the hard drive from my IBM NetVista Windows XP. Before I do that I have to remove the hard drive. At the moment there are two connections on it. One with red, blue and yellow wires and the other is a gray "band". How do I remove them?
