Can you keep a AOL email for free or cheap?

I found out an elderly client still pays $40/month to keep his AOL email address. If I am not mistaken can't you keep an AOL email address for $5/month if not free?

Mine is free and always has been. He should look into that. Maybe he's not paying AOL...... I get quite a few phishing scams. This could be one he got.

The email address itself has always been free. If you're paying you're paying to use their dialup.

You pay for the software, not the email. Users can use webmail at no cost.

It is free. The cost he's paying is for support, I bet he never even uses. AOL just doesn't tell you that.
