Hello, Malwarebytes Community--

We're very excited to announce the release of Malwarebytes 4.0 for Windows!

This release provides a major evolution of our detection technology, as we announce our new Malwarebytes Katana Engine. The Katana engine combines innovative new detection technologies with our best existing detection engines to bring you even greater security.

In addition to the malware detection improvements, we've redesigned the user interface with a cleaner and simpler design:

Key features:

  • Improved zero-hour detection – pinpoints new threats as they arise and before they can wreak havoc on your device
  • Expanded malware detection – blocks even more malware for improved protection
  • Signature-less behavioral detection – identifies the latest variants of dangerous malware families that attempt to evade traditional signatures through runtime packing, obfuscation and encryption, offering instant protection against new threats that traditional AV has a hard time detecting
  • Faster threat definition process – streamlines the publishing of new definitions, reducing the time it takes to protect you from new threats
  • Revamped user interface – Completely redesigned user interface that is intuitive, more informative and simple to use
  • Threat statistics – allows you to see what Malwarebytes is doing for you in real-time and get a first-hand view of what threats are coming at you (and being blocked)
  • Cybersecurity news – dynamic feed keeps you informed of the latest threats and other security topics
  • Easier updates – more automation means you receive the latest protection with less effort
You can download Malwarebytes 4 directly from our main website download link.

Thank you all for your continued support -- we appreciate and look forward to your feedback!

LOL i tried it and it is picking up chrome as malware also wants to delete the whole user profile guess its still not ready for public tried it on a fresh windows 10 setup with just chrome same deal wants to delete chrome and user profile.....

The GUI is quite colorless now (was that considered more modern?)...(not that I spend much time looking at it, anyway)

However, PC Security Channel's Youtube testing ( within last 24 hours)of MBAM 4.0's potential of actively blocking malware from executing showed pretty dismal results at least i that test against 1700+ samples run in the script...

However, MBAM has a multiyear history of *detecting/removing* malware, so, all is not lost, but, I don't think many will be enthused about it being a potential AV replacement just yet...

Thoughts?
None of those tests you see around the web are "real world" tests. The flat scanning function(definitions) are the weakest point of the protection.
Web and exploit protection are the strongest and the cloud component of the system is a plus.
Combined with the Firefox and Chrome extensions and using Defender in Win 10 is a very robust combination. Throw in ublock origin and your set.
The test also bypassed web protection by pre-downloading that "folder". Also in the real world, no one will be bombarding the system with that much at one time. It does not give the heuristic cloud component a chance to react.

I also believe bypassing Windows 10 built-in security measures is a crime in itself as well.

For real-time protection we have found Defender to work better than Malwarebytes (except for the malicious IP address blocking). But it's been a PITA to keep Malwarebytes from disabling Defender real-time protection.

Probably just going with Bitdefender would have been better. Though I might seriously consider Kaspersky again.

Malwarebytes live protection was never any good same goes for windows defender malwarebytes does excel at scan detection avast has best free live protection still.

I need to see the test re-done in that video with ANTI-ROOTKIT enabled...

Once you click on 'settings' to view them, it hardly seems intuitive (to me, anyway!) to have to click on '?' to get back to home screen. :) (I spent at least a few seconds internally saying 'what dumbasses forgot a quick way to return to 'home'???")
