Ok so it's a chinese import POR apache 125 and only time will tell how long it lasts before breaking down :p It's only two months old and the previous owner probably sold it because it was so slow, but it will do me for now. I plan to get my test done before the October changes, so plenty of time to get some practice in. I just want the weather to improve as it's bleedin cold at the moment!

I love driving and now I love riding too. The bike is meant as a weekend toy and at least it well get me out of the house and away from the computer. I also enjoy playing the guitar and sleeping.

So folks - What are your hobbies?

Its really is good to get away from the computer every now and then. you know I went outside the other day, and they actually keep sunlight out there! Seriously though, Here are some of the things that I'm into.

Working out with weights. I do this 4 or five days per week 1 1/2 to two hours per session. It's a great way to relieve stress. I do it more for strength and health benefits, then to attain the bodybuilder look. The functional strength also helps me in my other hobbies, which are Brazilian jujitsu and kickboxing ( mixed martial arts). I have been into this since about 1994. For anyone who knows anything about MMA, I got my first belt in Brazilian jujitsu from Royce Gracie. I don't get to train quite so much anymore, because of my busy schedule, but I still love train when I can. I also love to punch the heavy bag every morning for 30 to 45 minutes.
Hiking trails is also a favorite pastime of mine, and also helps keep me in shape.

Hey thats a nice one. I have a Yamaha Raptor 660R I take it out to glamis all the time, me and my dad also built a sand rail together bought the frame and hooked it up with a VW engine its nothing big but its fun. Hey Simmy if you ever get to come to Cali you should check out Glamis (www.GalmisInfo.com) check out the photo gallery so you can see what its like, or Ocotillo Wells its loads of fun. I am also an amateur mma fighter/cage fighter. with a record of 2 wins-0 losses, Primarily trained in Muay Thai but I wrestled in high school and have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a few years.

Until recently I was riding an Aprilia RSV, but she's been written off in an accident (not my fault).

I used to fly model helicopters and was in the process of learning how to fly non-turbine choppers, but that's behind me now.

I also do Krav Maga, for fitness and self-protection.

Am I the only one who thinks its a bit odd that we have 5 geeks here and 4 of us are into martial arts?

lol I don't know if thats odd, rare coincidence? I've always wanted to get into Jujitsu and Krav Maga. Both look like very interesting arts. anybody watch Human Weapon on the History Channel? Love that show.

My hobby

My main hobby is Mountain Biking. I'm really lucky to live right next to 210 acres of heavily wooded land with more than 11 miles of (cross country type) singletrack. When I'm not riding the trails, I'm hiking on them with my German Shepherd...we just got back from a 90 minute walk under the full moon

speak for yourselves :p

I work with business people on a daily basis (which is something geeks aren't allowed to do)
and KM isn't from the orient, it's from Israel.

I think you misunderstood me. Geek is not a put down here. Its more of a compliment. I consider myself a geek and I work with professionals as well. I also am well aware of where KM is from, as well as most of the other combat systems. A martial art or a combat system could be considered the same thing. The def. of a martial art is:Martial arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. Though studied for various reasons, broadly speaking, martial arts share a single objective: to defeat a person physically or to defend oneself from physical threat. Having had training in many other combat systems and having been exposed to krav maga
I'm not trying to insult your combat system.

Former Shotokan geek here, did a little work with some other forms of self defense.

Seems to me the martial arts evolve like language. Does not have to come from Japan or China. Just my opinion. I need to get out of my chair and get some execise besides the 12 oz curls...

I wish BJJ and UFC was around when I was younger and fitter (I know it was around but virtually unheard of in Australia) . I love combat sports but am now in my late thirties and paying for all of the injuries that I received from full contact Thai, Kickboxing and Kyokushin. My only regret now is that I let my fitness go and my timing would probably be out.
I am now a lounge chair spectator for UFC which I love and wish i could have competed in something like that.
Hey Mmuay, are we going to see you get caned by Tank Abbott one day??? lol

By the time I reach an organization like elitexc he would probably be too old to fight me wouldn't be fair to fight a senior citizen regardless if he out weight me, my next fight though I will video tape so you guys can see me in action. Hey lazzo why dont you start training again? its never too late to start.

I have started back training recently. I have noticed my power is a lot greater than it was , my cardio and timing not so much. Its going to take some time and maybe 20-30lb. weight loss I think. When I stopped training regulary I was about 190, now I'm 219. Even though its solid and I can bench press 360 lbs. the extra mass is harder to carry and sucks up my air pretty fast. I also notice that escape drills from the bottom are harder for me now.

Sweet, thinking about competing again? you know what helps me out alot during cardio and pretty much all my training, water, I know all kindsa dudes that drink monsters and rock stars and I mean a casual one isnt so bad, but to rely on it for training, they wear out quick, I drink from a gallon to two gallons a day, and I can last a while. 219 thats not bad at all you will be back in fighting shape in no time.

Well I managed to save up enough money to buy something I've been wanting for a LONG time. I sold that chinese 125cc bike and bought this little beauty :) Having not had a holiday for 4 years, this is my treat from me to me :D Pics below

Well done Simmy!
is this your first big'ish bike?

I heard that they are a grand bike, and a big step up from a Ching-Chong-Dong-Wing-Wong-Wheel-Fellof 125cc beater.

I bought a Fireblade to replace the RSV Mille.
It's got a lot of hop-up's, including Dynojet, K&N Air filter, carbon can, carbon frame guards, a meta alarm, etc.

Not mine, but looks similiar. Mine has flip paint.

Yeah it's my first big bike. She's a heavy bike (210kg wet) with 97bhp, so she won't keep up with the modern 600s but the acceleration is still incredible :D Filtering through traffic knocks loads of time off the journey too! \o/

Nice Fireblade btw. You having as much bad luck with the weather as we are over here this "summer"? :p
