Xbox One Elite Controller Repair

I've come across 25 xbox one elite controllers that have no power (wired or battery). Does anyone have any experience working/diagnosing these controllers? I know I can replace the board, but they are pretty pricey ($45-50) and would really cut into the profits. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about determining what is failing on the board or where to find some good documentation.
