So this customer has a MacBook Pro 2011 with macOS El Capitan and a SSD with macOS and lots of crap on it (crap = folders, documents etc) and a secondary HDD with lots of crap also and recently every time he saves a word document it creates a folder with the same name has the document, I’ve googled around and no fix was determined but some say it could be the auto save feature (which in my MacBook Pro 2015 with catalina and word 2019 I was not able to reproduce) or something related to SMB sharing folders but because he cannot leave the MacBook with me, or if he leaves is for me to solve it on the spot , I don’t have a way to test this options.
Has anyone seen this and solved it?

TIA

Is there a file in it with the same name and Backup appended? I've replicated this on my M365 Word. It's in Word>Preferences>Save>Always create backup copy. Check it off, restart computer, it'll create the folder and backup file inside when you save the word document. Uncheck, rester and it'll stop.

it just creates the folder no files inside, gonna ask the customer to come by and leave the MacBook, which he will say he can’t...., thanks for the reply :) will update as soon as possible

You're welcome. Then it might be auto save, which is different that autobackup.. I had a customer where I turned that on because he was horrible about saving while editing. Created some problem he complained about but I just don't remember what the symptom was though. I did turn it off and the problem went away.
