Working on a client's PC which has had virus issues. When I first saw it, some app was trying to install after boot up and failing to find a file it needed - you've almost certainly seen this before - it tries about 5 times and you have to cancel it each time. The only way I've found to stop it in the past is to uninstall the app and when that fails use Microsoft Install Clean-up Utility to remove the remnants of it and then reinstall it if needed.
So I did this. It was an app they didn't want anyway so no need to reinstall it. But then it happened for ANOTHER app....and then ANOTHER. Now it's on Microsoft Office Basic which I don't want to remove because it's their office suite and no disks are available.
Any idea why the problem would appear to be moving from app to app?
