Windows One?

Is Windows One on it's way? I just noticed a new service in "services (Local)" called "CaptureService_1da06b83" and linked to OneCore Capture Service.

Of course I was curious whether it was a new spyware "feature" added to Windows 10 so I asked the Duck.

Just another reason to ditch EVERYTHING RELATED TO Mickey$haft!

I do wish that some other company with super-deep pockets would take on M$ - but don't ever expect that to happen (doggonit!)

I think it would be great if Windows ran on everything similar to what Linux does now in all it's various forms.
Having the one codebase simplifies many things.

Ummmm - Been there, done that. It didn't work our so well for Canonical.

Because they're cleaning up their code base?

Microsoft is absolutly unable to do that. I remember a simple bug in Outlook Express. When talking about that with a M$ developer and asking the question why this bug could not be found and fixed the answer had been something like "there's no one able to read and understand the code anymore". And maybe exactly that is the reason for the one or other piece of software where developement had been stopped (not only from M$).

I have a very hard time believe that M$ doesn't have an engineer around that is competent in the Outlook / Outlook express code base.

There are developers out there supporting legacy apps that are 20+ years old.... kinda hard to believe that they have no one around that is well versed in a product they currently offer?

Very true, it appears it is a discontinued product. But my I still stand behind the original statement. I find it very hard to believe M$ doesn't have engineer(s) well versed in any product they currently offer. I was mistaken in the fact that I had assumed Outlook Express was still around.
