windows installation

I calculate by the time. So if depends on if the need data backed up and restored to the new installation or not, if the need certain programs installed, drivers for certain devices e.g. printers, scanners, camera's.

So I just estimate that and I do it by my hourly rate. Keep site as for me. I know some ppl do a flat rate for this type of work but I don't almost all my work is on my hourly rate.

I charge a flat rate for format/reinstalls if it is done at my workshop (which is almost always is). The cost is double my hourly rate.
Even though the job make take 3-4 hours, I'm not actually working ON it. Its usually doing its thing while im doing something else. If the job requires lots of backups and seeking obscure drivers then I really earn it. A few times jobs have been really hard (like finding drivers for a laptop that was never released outside of japan). However, the majority of the time its really simple and its easy money.

I think i asked the wrong question, what i mean is where do you guys get the media.!
is it once CD and it is used over and over? or each customer buy his own?
or how is it done? i know it is expensive?1 so how do you guys profit from it?

If they have a valid CD and key, I use their CD and Key.
If they dont have a CD but only have a Key, I use my CD and their key. My CD is used over and over.
If they dont have a key but they have a CD, I make them buy a key (extra cost on top of the format work)
If they have neither, I make them buy the CD/Key (once again, extra cost on top of format work). I buy these CD/Keys at my supplier so they are about $45 cheaper than the retail price, I then sell them at retail price.
