As a new user who did not post more than 15 post, I can not insert a URL to the site that explains the Windows 8 push button reset.

To get around the URL rule, I cut off a bit of it. winsupersite.com/content1/tabid/2936/catpath/windows8/topic/windows-8-consumer-preview-push-button-reset-142376

The push button reset solves the PC rot issue and it takes a short amount of time to wipe the system clean and re-installs Windows.

I've got a couple of posts to my name: WinSuperSite

Sounds like "Refresh" would parallel a repair install and "Reset" a destructive clean install.

Edit: Oooh, even a "Refresh" has its destructive side. See the third-through-fifth points:

People could avoid getting their software deleted by saving software and other precious belongings in a cloud storage, flash-drive, or an external hard drive before pressing the reset button.

You know that you can't just "save software" to the cloud, right? You can't just save your Quickbooks folder and the registry there and restore them after Win8 has done its refresh.

It's a given that they'd have their installation media but I can pretty much guarantee that Joe User won't think the two steps ahead on this.

With a helpful OS like that who needs viruses and malware ? Just run the built in fix program.

I still don't see many enterprises picking up this OS due to training and upkeep changes.

I seems to me that Microsoft may have too many eggs in one basket.

I certainly have not been very impressed with the UI. Who thought it is a good idea to model the flagship OS into a phone-clone? It's not like the Windows phone is doing that good anyway (has the public spoken?)

I can only hope that the final version will have the option to revert back to a standard desktop with a start button. I'm more excited to see what's in store on the back-end of the OS

@CRet: Just because Windows is the only MS basket you're aware of, doesn't mean it's the only one there is.

As for the rest of ye: I just did a refresh on my system, and it asked me for the original install media, and I definitely did have to reconfigure things. So it's not quiiiite a one-click procedure.
