I found a Windows 10 download link directly from microsoft. It says it for IT pros to test. So i guess my question is, Is it legal to download or post on here..

most likely a timed trial. i downloaded a windows 8 preview which stopped working after a couple of months.

be double sure you're downloading the iso. you don't want to be trashing your work computer

For some time M$ has used Technet to distribute eval versions. Whether production or beta.

i have just downloaded this and installed it on a spare notebook in the office. I'm liking it so far.
It does say Evaluation copy in the bottom right of Wallpaper but doesn't say how long it goes for. i like the new start menu and CMD is a huge improvement. Feels a bit quicker too but maybe thats because its a fresh install.

Downloaded and tried on a spare Pc. Looks a lot like W8 but with a much improved start menu and you can get at the shutdown button quickly. Still tries to force you to use a microsoft email address to log on and the mail client is still cr4p. Saying that it seems to be a major improvement on w8 but not that different in style. slmgr suggests the eval will expire in April next year.

Trying it out on a HP CQ61, running no problem, found and installed everything, looks like 8, but I'll have a dig later....

I've just installed it in a virtual box, and vmware picked the ISO up as Windows 7. But seems to run okay, it's what 8 should of being.

Loaded on 2008 R2 Hyper-V Core. Joined domain(faster process with less typing). So far I really like it.

Tried installing it on virtualbox stuck at the create account for half an hour of watching spinning dots, gave up pressed back and create account again got in.

No kidding !

I have it running nicely in VB with 8.1 64bit settings. Standard 25 gig virtual partition and 3 megs ram.

Nice to see M$ got the hint and reverted back to the win7 options. But they still persist in having some tiles in the start menu. To me it looks like the graphics are cheapened up (task manager especially) but I will not complain there.

This version is much more workable than 8. I can actually see this working on perhaps a server edition because you can actually get to things like win7.

Yes, I hate the "create an account" BS. Have to click on "new account" and then "sign in without a M$ account".

As far as service wise this looks much better and will be easier to service.

VirtualBox is giving me fits! I updated the version before installing Windows 10, now I keep getting VirtualBox Com Object error when trying to open it up. I have re-installed it about 4 times and even used prior versions. Nothing.

Googling the issue, alot of people have the same problem but No real fixes. Anyone else having issues with this?


EDIT: Never mind found the fix. Run in Compatibility Mode Vista SP2

installed onto 4.3.12 in 8.1 64 bit config without problems, well apart from being bog slow on my laptop O-)
