One of my clients have Dell XPS 27 AIO for a few of the employees. One of them recently needed an entire wipe (what the owners want whenever an employee turnover happens) and for some reason this system came back with Windows 10 home. I went through my normal steps of boot from USB > install Win10 > delete partitions... etc... like all the other machines I have done for them and others.
As with Windows 8+ once the cd key window pops up click 'i dont have' then it continues to install reading the key from the MB including the version. Back story: this AIO was originally purchased with Window 8 home them upgraded to pro through a purchase from Dell that included an install USB (which i have now). They did this before I started working with them and all they can remember is that it deleted everything so I am assuming a fresh install. They have no key for the upgrade as it was purchased through Dell and appears to be tied to the USB.
Any suggestions before getting on the phone with Dell / MS for a few hours to hopefully find an upgrade key to pro?
