Windows 10 Installs no longer have option for local account?

Hey all!

I just started seeing this this past week. I am using the same Windows 10 install media I always have. On fresh installs of Windows 10, there is no longer an option to opt for a local account! I even created older media for 1803 and 1709... same deal, no longer an option to create a local account. I am forced into attaching a Microsoft account during the install.

Is anyone else suddenly seeing this behavior?

Wow, ok . Odd and annoying then.

I have some more builds this week. Will try without the internet connection and see what happens.

Thank you for the comparison and suggestion.

I saw the same thing for the first time this week, when I was doing an ssd upgrade and fresh install at a client site with 1809 media I've used dozens of times. I was already attached to the internet, so the workaround for me was to put an email address in for a "microsoft account" then click "forgot password". It gave me the option to create a local account and "fix" it later.

I've learned many many many times that unless I really need internet access for a startup installation.. I NEVER HOOK IT UP in the days of XP I swear the systems would catch the flu bug (aka any damn PC virus running around) without doing anything I can really say it's bad when the isp's themselves end up being infected and re-directing updates from unknown sources. I'm glad theses days at least the updates have a integrity check but boy I can only say unless I had seen the computers go haywire I wouldn't of believed it.

But hey glad to see this post is giving more than one suggestion.

Yup I found this too yesterday!

We had one in the shop last week where the customer bought it from a big box store and wanted us to transfer the data. There was no local account option, so we signed into our house account, then removed it from S mode, created a local user, switched to the local user and removed our house login. What a pain in the ass.

How are you all doing the media. Just burn the ISO to a stick?
easy2boot is my favorite solution to keep all my media on one stick

back to topic:
got just a brand new laptop on my desk a few minutes ago, preinstalled with wintendo 10 home. Did as I always do and didn't connect it to any network. It directly asked for a local account at the known position of the oobe dialog. The funny thing is: even it's brand new it came along with v1709,
