Who is the host and who is client in this setup?

I'm the admin and I need to get into my client's machine. We are using Teamviewer. The client installed the QuickStart app and I have the full version. the client gives me the 9 digit code and then the 4 digit passkey.

I know this should be very simple but something had me confused. I would say that the client is acting like the host as I am connecting to it. Is this correct?

From the sounds of it you are correct in your thinking.

I now use a different remote program (Mikogo), and I tell my clients the access code to allow me access to their machine.

It's the same as when they invite you over for tea. When they invite you into their home (read: computer), they are the Host.
