Finally gave in to the Skype upgrade nag to version 7 today, and now it won't let me do conference calls while I'm on with clients, like I have always been able to do.

Oldversion.com says they have a version 6 but it won't download. Anyone know of a place to get Skype 6.x?

Turns out File Hippo doesn't actually store the files - it just redirects to the old Skype 6 download page, which Skype now says no longer exists.

From OldApps.com:
"Skype is no longer available at OldApps. You may still use OldApps to find system compatibility."

I think Microsoft is contacting all of these old app sites and forcing them to remove older versions of Skype.

It seemed like a glitch in the software. I could click the "Add a person to this call" and I could type the phone number for the third person (this is while I was already on the phone with the first person). But then there were no options - the Enter key just gave an error sound, and there were no other buttons. Tried several times, could not get it to work. Microsoft seems to be the king of pushing out crappy new versions of previously good software.

This "may" be something to do with Skype vs Skype for Business, perhaps? Maybe removing functionality to drive adoption of their B2B product.

Update - Got version 6.3 installed fine, and it worked. Until today. I ran it, put in what I know is the right password, and just got the error "Skype cannot connect". No explanation. I confirmed I was connected to the internet but that message continued. Uninstalled (with Revo, to be sure I got everything), reinstalled 6.3. Same message.
Uninstalled 6.3 and then went to the link above and got 6.18. That one worked fine. Then I had to go out for a while, so before I went out I restarted the computer. Came back to find that Skype had UPDATED ITSELF to the current version, 7.x. Didn't ask if I wanted to update or anything, just did it.

So ****** off that this is Microsoft standard practice now. "You're getting the newest one, whether it works or not". And it doesn't matter that I pay for Skype either.
