Thank You. My point exactly.
Yes, I would actually. For a few reasons. 1. The guy knew that he couldn't do it, which I appreciate the honesty. 2. It was his time, and his professional opinion/diagnosis. 3. I took time away from him that could have been used for other paying customers. I am also a former long time professional mechanic myself, and there is never a scenario such as you suggested.
Also, I am glad that you grew up on LI rick, I am also glad that you find can find the time and afford to help people for free, @ an hour a day as you stated. Maybe it's where you live in the "same small town in eastern north carolina" as stated in your introduction post. You also state that you have had a shop there for the last 15 years. That's nice, but 15 years ago, long island wasn't nearly as expensive to live on as it is now, and certainly wasn't the amount of competition in this field there is now. There wasn't also a Recession going on. But I understand your position on top of that soapbox, and sure, I guess you could continue to insinuate many things about me, my business, and the way in which I choose to do business, but until you come out of your small town, and back here and do business, and actually make it in this current economy, perhaps you should rethink your position on judging my methods. We do fine, and have no complaints, and plenty of repeat customers to encourage out continuity.
If you wish to spend your time helping people for free, then by all means please PM me your contact information, and I will gladly fill you up with the people that call us looking for freebies.
Good day to you.
