I remember for years watching my Mom and Dad sitting at the kitchen table in the morning drinking black coffee. My Dad would often say "You want to taste?" I would say "sure" and try some. It was awful!! Yuck!. He would laugh.

Now I am 44, I have been drinking coffee for about 2 years now. The other morning my wife informs me we are out of coffee! I got dressed, jumped in the car, drove to the store and brought a new can home. She quickly made a pot and after 2 cups I was ready to get in the shower and start my day.

When the hell did this happen?!?!?

A special trip to get coffee???

I'm feeling old :(

lol Crazy stuff. I never drank coffee and don't plan on it. Can't stand the smell (both of just coffee or someone's coffee breath). People get headaches when they haven't had coffee for awhile. I figure I just avoid it and not have to worry about any of that.

I've had that attitude about coffee, cigs, and alcohol. Once you open the floodgates, who knows what will happen or how you will twist your lifestyle to accomidate your new addiction.

I can honestly say that I have not drank either Tea or Coffee is close to at least 35 years. I'm nearly 41.

I detest the taste of both of them, me, im more of a soda guy, or flavoured water, vimto etc. (I go through 2 large bottles of vimto cordial in a week).

I occasionally have a beer, maybe a pint a week, but when I go out drinking, I can drink most of my friends under the table. It takes a lot to get me drunk.. In saying that, I have not had a good session since my 40th, and that was a great night.

So I was informed at 2.40am, I was swinging round a lamp post trying to ring the wife asking to come and collect us, had a sly No1 in the snow, elsewhere with my other hand, slipped and fell in the snow, nearly hitting the afore mentioned no1, had a couple of friends help me up, bundled into the car, bundled out of the car, saying things like, uh oh, Al, I think we're in trouble..

None of this I remember one iota, in fact I don't remember anything from 11.45 onwards. Next thing I know its 5.30, and I woke up with cramp in my leg.

The boss has banned us from going out since then!!. Wonder why lol.

My favourite all time drink, is what I call my special, double southern comfort, double vodka, 3 shots of lime, all in a tall glass, topped with lemonade.

It's a sipping drink, but after having a couple of these, you feel fine, that is until you get outside!. Then woah.. where am I ;).

I usually save this drink for my works night out. Yes I work for myself, and have no employees to speak of, but we still go out each Christmas for a pub crawl or a meal. The lads think its hilarious, I have a santa's hat with my logo embroidered onto it and contact details.

Gets some good business (after the night out that is :D )

I started drinking coffee somewhere in my teens. Like most people, I started drinking it like both my parents did -- the Canadian classic, "Double-Double" (it's so Canadian, it's in our dictionary) I travelled a lot in my 20s and starting taking it black and haven't changed that in about 20 years now.
Problem is, even in college, I seem to get no benefit from the caffeine. I can drink espresso in bed and still sleep like a baby. Made cramming for finals in college a bit rough.

I was the opposite. Even after working all day and going to school in the evening. I found I always did better after a caffeine boost. Select varieties of diet soda are my drink of choice. I know its a crutch, but I need a soda or pop as we call them in these parts every morning shortly after I start working to get my bearings. My better half has always been a health and fitness nut and gives me a hard time about my pop habit. I justify it with the fact that even though I drink the pop, I still drink 2-3 times that amount of water each day and spend usually 3 hours every evening powerlifting, so I need this one thing to keep me real.

I have no distaste for coffee. I liked it when I was young and still like it. It just takes preparation and like my caffeine ready to drink and preferably in a bottle with a screw on top with working around so many electronics daily. On top of that, I'll still keep the sealed bottle on a shelf underneath where I park my laptop. Seen too many coffee/liquid spilled laptops.

I started drinking coffee in my teens. These days I drink 2-3 cups per day. I'd most likely drink more if I didn't take pre-workout sups that have lots of caffeine in them.

I couldn't survive without coffee, and I have gone to great lengths including buying several espresso makers and proper grinders. Most haven't stood the pace !

At the moment I have a senseo device, which does a half decent job.

Like my preference for curries, I started off a Vindaloo man, but I've throttled back to less potent ones. With coffee, I've cut back considerably on strength and number.

I used to drink booze a little bit, but recently I just can't seem to be bothered. The occasional pint is about it. You see reports of binge drinking, and I just cant understand it. I'm a big enough jerk without it.

In the old college days, my fave was guinness and cider. Most pubs refused to make it as it takes time to serve it and can go horribly wrong. This beverage does have a name but I can't remember it. One pint was enough as it went straight to your head.

Also, snakebite was a good one (lager & cider) but it was actively banned in pubs ("no snakebites" signs) as it was nutter fodder.

Yep. I'm getting old.

I love the smell of coffee but for the life of me can't understand how someone could drink it black. I can only drink it with cream to cut the bitterness. I drink a couple cups a day but could do without it. We only ever buy or use instant coffee as it tastes the same to us regardless of what coffee connoisseurs think.

When I was in basic training in the army they would run us around and get us all hot, sweaty and thirsty. When we had a break I would go for a cold soda or water but many of the other guys would light up a smoke and drink hot, black coffee. When I'm hot and thirsty the absolute last thing I would ever want would be a cup of coffee!

I never used to drink it (only tea, or soda), but when I went to customer premises they would make it and I thought it was rude not to drink it so I have finally got used to it, but I could never drink it black, it needs milk and sugar.

It is not rude to drink it or not drink it... Do what you want; march to your own tune. Just because a site has coffee means nothing.

I guess coffee just keeps some people running. I used to have a thing for it, but quite honestly I find myself drinking purified water more than anything else in the mornings, or when I need an extra energy boost, a can of 23.oz Arizona Tea.
