What's do all of you think of Epson printers?

Epson and Brother are my two best choice for home and small offices. (They also have many service centers)
I dislike HP with passion also !

I agree with jfm - I try to steer all my customers towards Epson. Best reliability and best for support in my opinion.

HP are appalling.

I like Canon but there ink is starting to get expensive, HP want to load Mbs of Junk software on the system, which leave Brother or Epson in my mind for Home or Small business. I do find that I install Brother and never hear from the customer again. so I haven't used Epson for a long time but other techs Epson is first choice then Brother

Haven't used Epson laser printers, but the ink ones are alright. Always seem ready to work, but I don't use them much sho the ink tends to dry up and clog the things. Brother laser printers are my go to for document printing. Fast and seemingly indestructible.

Epson is going down the toilet in quality. They're having pretty severe problems with the ink clogging up on the newer models. Just read the reviews.

The truth of the matter is, when it comes to cheap (sub $400) inkjet printers, there just isn't anything decent anymore. I think you're screwed no matter what you buy these days.

We sell loads of HP printers but only the OfficeJet Pro X (now called PageWide) series and they are great.

For cheapo (residential)....Brother.
For business, we're still all HP. And our printer partner does a lot of Canon also. The quality of the hardware, and the print capabilities, of the business machines from those two do stand above the rest. No other brands have had printers in service that have printed over a million pages and still going strong....just HPs do that. Plus their ease of service.

For residential, yeah HPs drivers are bloated, but so are the others...with all that "info" available. Since we do business only, we just get the corporate installation drivers, or use the Universals. No bloat in those.

HP for residential and some businesses depending on their workflow, otherwise for business, it's Brother. The only issue I have with HP is their twice a year firm wear upgrade that always breaks the ink cartridges - if you don't use genuine HP ink. I always refer customers to purchase their ink or toner from LDProducts.

Been using brothers lately and happy with them. Only thing I'm curious is fusers. For example, HL-L6200DW has estimated 200k page fuser life. Can't find a replacement fuser online anywhere. Haven't had the need yet but will soon.

I've always had good luck with Canon printers, and also detest HP printers and their bloatware. Epsons still tend to clog up with low usage for me and my customers.

I'm looking to offer an alternative to Dell printers. Their all-in-ones can get expensive for some home based or small offices. I dislike HP.
Ink jet or Laser?

If you / your client wants good quality print and is willing to spend a bit more I would go with a laser printer. Yes they cost a bit more as do the toner cartridges, but the amount of great printed copies can hardly be beat by any ink jet. Plus Laser printers rarely dry up and quit printing, common in nearly all wet ink printers.

HP Business-Class Laser printers are pretty good.

If you want to have the ability to print on "peel & stick" labels, get a straight-thru paper path laser printer. I've seen many Brother Laser printerswhich will accommodate them.

For the consumer and small biz I'll recommend anything except HP. As others have mentioned, their bloatware is excessive and unwanted.

From my experience Brother printers are more reliable than modern HP printers. Brother don't change models every month like HP. Another good thing from Brother are the inks and toners, also the drums, are the same for 2-3 models. For example i have a client with Brother monochrome very simple printers, and alll in one brother printers, and their toners and drums are the same. So, they have to order only one toner model or drum.

Hey! I've got customers with Oki's that blow that away! :p
Got a business that does Flyers, Pamphlets, 10+ page Newsletters, etc etc. They print about 5000 pages a day!
Also have a company that does Business Cards that use only Oki's.

Tried to install an HP printer today on XP
print driver was over 300 megs it started doing this optimization thing before install.
install went ahead then asked for USB to be plugged it then a few minuted later a small window opens saying
windows will be shut down in 60 sec so not to cause problems.
I did a clean install of XP and it did the same again at exactly the same point.
it's for a 90-year-old person with bad health and he can only use XP
all he needs to do is print no scanning.

Then go to HP's website and download "just the software you need" and don't run the total install. I've done this many times in the past to get past all the bloatware. You can always remove the icons that are installed via the bloatware and client will never (really) know.

Anyone have experience with the new Epson Workforce series with the large refillable tanks that last around 2 years?
