Mine would have to be MediaMonkey for music.(With the WMP Skin) Great for managing ID3 tags; great collection of scripts on the forums to be dug up also.

And VLC for Videos (With the WMP skin) =) Hasn't failed to play me a movie yet!

VLC is excellent as it plays most stuff, however I now prefer Gomplayer as it looks nice and i haven't had trouble playing anything with it yet. What a reason eh, lol.

I used to do jetaudio years ago, then some winamp... found VLC finally and then recently KMPlayer. I think it's something like a Korean MPlayer or something, since I thought it was perhaps a windows port of a KDE Mplayer but I was wrong. It is the only player that will play back my blu-ray movies that I ripped to the hard drive, and my god does it have a lot of options. Seems to be in perpetual beta as far as I can see. Otherwise it's VLC... haven't heard of Gomplayer yet, will check it out.

As far as ipod I settled on yamipod right now, it's cross platform, lives on the ipod and it's FREE... I refuse to pay for software left and right.

However my all time favorite mediaplayer would be mythtv... honestly it was like a religious experience once I got that sucker going. TV will never be the same, nor video's, music etc. Absolutely amazing. I broke it once and I honestly feared for my life cause my gf lost her tv, and setting up from scratch was a PITA so I put it off. Mythbuntu is the new heir to my fortune (all $15 or so).

Throw my quarter in the jar for VLC on video as well.

For music I just started using Media Monkey lately and have been extremely impressed. I switched to MM after doing some searching on the web on reviews and such. This is a really good page I found.

It rates each player on different aspects and gives you a rating for each category and an overall.

Well thought you "techies" here were using like me foobar2000 for music, now adays i use a streaming program for free that's called Spotify (PM for invite, though only have like five left). I use foobar2000 because it's simple interface and no bad coded eyecandy (though you can add if you want). I would try Songbird but I'm stuck on Spotify :)

As for video playback I use K-Lite Stanard Pack (with addition of QT Lite and Real Alternative Lite) and that includes every codec I need and Media Player Classic: Home Cinema. On MPC I only changed some keybindings like fast foward 30s when I push left and fullscreen on F.
