My wife has been on me for a few weeks now to figure out what I want for Christmas. Most of the tech toys I want, I just buy throughout the year. I figure a fair amount of you are in the same boat. So is there any cool kit you've picked up that you maybe didn't think you needed before? Or, is there something non-tech related that you just can't live without now? Thanks!

I prefer that the person thinks of something useful to me without me helping them, it rarely happens but on occasion it works out quite well. I can think of 2 items I really like that were gifts I wouldnt have bought. 1. Logitech Harmony Remote, 2. Smart bidet (one of those asian toilets with all the cool features) I had never actually used anything similar before so the idea of trying one never came to mind.

I already got my big Christmas present... a big beautiful 34" Alienware Ultrawide 3440x1440 120Hz monitor... yummy!

I'm just trying to imagine how close I would have to be with a person to give them a bidet as a gift. :D I think the only person that might meet that qualification might take the gift as some sort of statement about their hygiene...

You don't have one do you? :D

I think its probably the best gift i've ever received, I just mentioned the logitech harmony first because thats more realistic. I think the one I have is the SmartBidet SB-1000.

Same experience.
A friend gave me a rotating remote control holder last year, something I never would have thought useful or ever even looked at, but actually love the thing. Keeps my end table organized.

It's the gifts you don't know you need that are the best, and can usually be inexpensive.

Challenge them to give you something you didn't even know you needed.

My wife gave me a raised eyebrow at my list..nothing techy.
*Kimber Ultra Carry II
*Pair of new bronze performance props for the boat
*Pair of new waterpumps for the boat engines
*US made Telecaster

I think you win for the most 'Merica wishlist! That said, I have a 9mm, a boat, and I play guitar, so we definitely have similar interests. ;)
