Gee last month i disabled windows updates on my personal computers yesterday at quitting time i rushed out door after hitting shutdown.
I checked Monday to make sure windows updates were disabled i get in shop this morning to my horror that windows 10 just decided to install the Oct. upgrade and all the buggy updates this month.
Now i have applications just quitting no errors no logs happens with adobe reader which is up to date and a bunch of other apps now i have to troubleshoot my own machines thinking about send Microsoft a bill for my time to troubleshooting my computer.

Hmm... that's too bad. I have windows updates enabled and get all updates when they are released. I have no buggy machines at all. I have 3 running with no faults running 1809 @ 17763.253

There are reports of windows 10 in businesses that are using patching software having the windows update services turned back on and updates forced installed.

Disabling the Windows Update service has never worked in Windows 10, or at least not for a few years. It just re-enables itself.

If you have Windows 10 Pro I recommend setting the Group Policy
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update

Change "Configure automatic updates" to "2 - Notify for download and notify for install"


Or if you don't have Pro you can achieve the same with a registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
Create a DWORD AuOptions with the value 2



This won't disable Windows Update but restricts it to only searching for new updates. You will be prompted occasionally to download & install but you can ignore it.

Lol one of the updates designed to make windows 10 faster and deliver updates sedlauncher is making my system slower guess i am going to have to remove it.

So i have done extensive testing on my personal machine at work i zeroed out my hard drive re-installed 1809 fresh and it still has issues many apps and games will just stop working no errors just ctdt seems 1809 is not compatible to my system it has the most up to date bios update it seems to be hardware based.
As soon as i wipe drive install 1803 no issues at all maybe 1809 does not like AMD video cards?.

I also have a mini HTC that runs windows 10 and plex it also suffers from same issue had to roll it back to 1803 Lenovo Q190 it started to be unstable after it upgraded to 1809.
