anyone using an eccommerce store?

need a fairly small one but every one i check doesnt have the fairly obvious functionality i require namely.... a place to put the price i actually bought the item for (unless i have overlooked).

any of you using an ecommerce store that has this fairly straightforward option?

Are you looking for this function so you can use this webstore for your book keeping? I would think something like Quickbooks would be a better option for this. Normally you wouldn't put your cost on your website hidden or otherwise.

I used the WP-Ecommerce Wordpress plugin for my wife's small webshop. I found it difficult to configure and quite buggy. Unless you're an experience PHP developer and are able to fix it and modify it for your particular needs (I'm not), I can't recommend it.

our site uses open cart... love it!

www.SprinterTech.us

open cart is what currently use but the fact cant put price i purchased items at anywhere in the admin side is driving me nuts....

fed up jumping between cart and sage to find purchase invoices when adjusting prices.

i know could also make a spreadsheet but that more work again for something that should be easy sorted and in my mind be part of the cart software.

Still confused to what you are trying to use the ecommerce site for? A store or a book keeping system? Can you explain what you trying to achieve, might help with suggestions

Besides my fledgling computer repair company I work for a wholesale supplier for canoe liveries. We also use Sage Peachtree (now Sage 50 I think) and we have a huge line of products. We are probably different then you because we set a price for everything once a year (when we put out our catalog) and only add new products a few times a year. We export a custom excel spreadsheet with pricing and qty and upload to the admin side of our site which then updates everything. We use a custom built cart system but their has to be other carts that allow this same type of thing.

our webstore is an internal store so basically a stock control system..

basically it not indexed by google and used only by our techs to unify pricing and check stock of consumables and parts. we found easier doing this way than having daily paper printouts and calling into office everytime wanted to check something when out on the road. Also lets tech offer alternative item for client (eg if not got 1 laptop we may have another similar).

Now as you know computer parts jump up and down on pricing and we do not have a set percentage markup it mostly done manually. Everytime something been lying in stock that bit too long i adjust the prices and can put it on the specialls section of homepage but obviously not wanting to take a loss i have to then go find original invoice or find part in our bookkeeping system first which adds time to time takes to do things.

dont need a solution may have found one going to trial virtuemart as has an internal notes field for products.
