Can you guys give me your opinion on my website performance (I.E. Loading speeds).

I can't seem to get an accurate test from my end, maybe if a few people try it and tell me how it loads for them, I can get a better idea.

It seemed a little slow to do the initial load on most all pages. Once in cache, they appear to work normally.

There are some websites that will give you some metrics, like Pingdom or WebPageTest. Google has one as well.

Your hoster is in Utah, and it was a 9-hop tracert for me from Pittsburgh. All of the hops had times of about 20ms. Pings look ok, ranging from 19ms to 28ms over a 5 minute period, with only 1 timeout. HTH

That seems to replicate the results I had here. Do you think it's the webpage itself that is causing the slow load or the web host? I'd hate to switch web hosts just to have the same problem on the new host.

My initial visit took about 6 seconds to fully load. 2nd visit about 2 seconds. Hope that helps.

First visit took about 6 seconds to fully load. Subsequent visit took only about 2 seconds. (From Germany)

Well, same thing today. Initial load about 5-6 seconds, ok after that. Your images aren't big, so that's not it.

It's Wordpress, so maybe something is going on there? Did you upgrade anything recently (theme, plugins, etc.)? Add any new plugins?

I suppose you could temporarily restore a backup of the site from a time when it was working correctly to see if that helps...

Barring that, I think I would just report the problem to the hosting company, maybe there is something they can check. Sorry!

It's been like this for a while, just getting around to try to figure out why it is so slow. Hosting company seems to think that loading times are fine, so that's sort of a dead end.

I have already trimmed as many plugins as possible.

EDIT:

I ran a pingdom test and by far the longest wait is the first connection. I'm going to try upgrading my hosting package to see if that resolves the problem.

I am fairly knowledgable on this topic as the Technibble front page is a high traffic Wordpress site and I have encountered all of this before. The only issue I can see with your site using webpagetest.org is your high "Time till first byte". This can be caused by either your Wordpress install (PHP code that needs to be run or database queries) or the web host.
Here is how to fix/determine the cause of the issue:
- Test your site on Webpagetest.org and save data somewhere. We'll use this as our "Before shot". After every step, test with Webpagetest.org to see if it helped.

- Empty all of your Wordpress post revisions. I have always used third party software to do this so I dont how to do it locally.
- Install a caching plugin for Wordpress. WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache are the two big boys and read some tutorials on how to set it up
- If that doesnt fix it, install a plugin called (P3 - Plugin Performance Profiler). This will show you which plugin loads the slowest. If one has a high load time, disable it and test again
- Last but not least, you are with Bluehost which is owned by EIG. All web hosts who have been bought by EIG have turned to crap. I had high TTFB on Hostgator and had to move my smaller sites to MediaTemple to stop it.

I ended up switching web hosts. It redirected one of my parked domains to the new web host and it seems to be working better for me. Anyone else care to try it out?

I still have some tweaks to make, but it seems a lot faster then the other web host.
