Could anyone confirm if the WD MY Book uses the Black edition HDD?
Every My Book I've cracked has been Green.
What's the part number printed on the case? They are usually Greens but I had a 4TB My Cloud a couple of weeks ago that used a WD40EFRX-68WT0N0 with a black label. Strangely, if you use the part number on this HP site, it says it's a Red, so I don't know how much faith I would put in that site to tell you.
How do the greens compare to the black?
You can change how frequently they idle, as described here. They are slower and spin down to save power after a timeout period
Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding the table that tells what drives are usually inside. Maybe I'm wrong about thinking I have seen one.WDBFJK0020HBK-A

Not much mileage with the My Books. But I setup my FreeNAS with some Greens. 50%, 2 out of 4, failure rate to date (2 years). That was the end of my "saving a few bucks" on my own equipment phase. How do the greens compare to the black?
