Is anyone familiar with Voodoo Shield? Feedback, opinions?

I have been checking this out and it is working very well so far. It is very easy to use and on my test machine I have thrown a lot at it.

For many clients this looks like the perfect virus/malware protection. Am I missing something?

Haven't played with it...but have read about it. There's a forum called Wilders Security..which is focused on antivirus and security programs. They have a long long thread on it (over 200 pages)...since VS came out (back in 2011). One of the VS developers is active in the thread.

Feedback seems pretty positive.

Seems like a worthwhile program for residential users. I do only SMB...but I'm a firm believer in an added layer of security (to compliment the local antivirus)....that scans web traffic, which is why I use UTM appliances at the edge of my clients networks.

Seems interesting to me. I wouldn't mind hearing some reviews from the peanut gallery here on TN. I don't think I'd ever promote it, but might be worth mentioning if it is good.

So far every virus and malware I could find to toss its way it caught. For residential clients it is great.

The interesting thing is that it works on servers. You set it up (which is simple) and then lock down the server. Then ANY software that you have not authorized to run, any service is blocked. I know with most of my accounts, they have us setup their server and we are the only ones to ever go near it.

Saw the video on it yesterday that Britec made. It does look good. Just wondering how it would work with the tach savy type of residental clients or those that like to install many programs. Guess I just have to run int on a VM or test bench and put it through the hoops.

How much time to a client return to the store because he wants to run <whatever> but he cant, because it isn't white-listed... or how much time to a client white-list conduit, ilivid, etc...

This ^^^

I like the concept but I'd have to cherry-pick the clients that I'd use it on. I'd expect a lot of calls because of install/run problems.
