Village fete(UK)

yeah good luck with it, be interesting to see how much take up you get from it. should sell tickets well as sound like good prizes.

Just an update on how this went. There was trepidation the day before that it would go ahead as we had torrential rain whilst I was repairing my porch roof! I was out in it! Anyway I set up on the day with a gazebo in case along with a table bearing stands with business cards and leaflets. My Smart car was alongside and generated a lot of interest with people looking at and in it. I should have given rides in it for extra revenue. The 1st prize was an Amazon Kindle with three other prizes of a HOBIT computer tune up. My wife helped me along with my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. A lot of my clients stopped by and bought tickets and said hello. We raised £191 for the local village school funds which was fantastic. I was brought out to the middle of fete to present the prizes and given even more exposure by the compere on the mic. The winner of the Kindle was a girl who immediately gave me a job to repair her non working laptop! The plan is that I get an article in the local newspaper presenting a cheque to the headmistress of the school along with a bit of information about my company. I also got some interest from a company who have problems with their HP plotter plotting form various computers. I could discuss this as it was my job in a previous life :p.

Anyway all round success and really enjoyable and fulfilling.

Brilliant news Martyn. Some great exposure for Hobit. The lady has a new kindle, school get a nice chunk of money, and a good day all round :)

I am really pleased for you my friend :)

More info. I just phoned one of the 'Tune Up' winners and it is a client who I have just tuned up their laptop( 2weeks ago) and they are over the moon with the performance of it. :D. I told them I will discount their next call.

This is just after I set up about 90 mins before it opened. I bought the Gazebo teh day before as I loaned my pop up one to my Land Rover mates who were going camping. The sign is stuck onto the box the sign on the top of the car is the one the gazebo came in so recycling, always goes well down in villages :D

Another update. This article went in two local newspapers, just took a quick pic with my phone camera. It's me presenting the cheque with a few of the children including two of my grandchildren.

there always great satisfaction when doing something for the community and getting newspaper inches from it.
