Using the power of a desktop on your laptop

I recently started using onlive a cloud gaming platform which actually seems to work well

Basically you can play high performance games on almost any machine as the performance is being driven by the onlive servers, you dont even download the game its a netflix type service

I was wondering if something similar existed where i could have an i7 machine at my office and basically have several basic stations which used the power of the i7 for launching programs etc;

this appears to be the same as team viewer with remote access, but we dont want to give them remote access to the pc just the applications
