I was reading a chapter of my text for a Grad school class I'm taking focusing on globalization. It was covering Thomas L. Friedmans 10 factors of flatening concerning the effects of globalization.
Anyhow, One of the flateners named in-sourcing described as "the deligation of a company's core operations to a subcontractor that specializes in that operation." One example they named was UPS employees doing laptop repairs for Toshiba and a team of certified UPS technicians doing on-site computer repair and maintenance. A quick google search didn't bring up much of anything except this artile http://money.cnn.com/magazines/business2/business2_archive/2004/07/01/374848/index.htm
The article is kind of outdated (July 2004). Just wondering if you guys have heard of them or seen them in action? I know Apple has to laptop mail in depots located in Memphis, TN and Houston, TX but these are Apple depots not UPS.
