Untangle releases firmware that can run on ASUS 88 routerhttps://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/ASUS_RT

Correction, I have the 87U. Still won't run on that, I don't have 512 megs...just 256 megs in it.
Some chat about the firmware on this sticky post.

Looks like they will be testing it on more and more routers...but the routers need to have at least 512 megs of RAM.
Certainly a testimony on how powerful routers are getting these days...with CPUs hitting 1 GHz and more. I have a pair of 1.0 GHz CPUs in mine, just not enough RAM for Untangle. But I'm happy with the Asus firmware anyways..and the after market Merlin firmware.
But anyways...nice to see the Untangle guys craft a semi-lower-resource specialized firmware for some home market routers. And interesting experiment for sure!

This sounds like it could easily turn into a self-branded solution which I imagine might fit into the lower-end price bracket (although that is a $300 router, maybe $250 wholesale). Still, especially if you are proficient with untangle, you could deliver a über-configurable edge device at a pretty low price point.
