Unknown Device in Device Manager

I built a new machine for a client, pretty basic machine:

Asus motherboard M3N78 Pro
(2) 1.5 TB Harddrives
AM2 2.5 GHz CPU
Blue Ray player
1GB DDR2 1066 Memory(although the CPU limits it to 800)
400W Coolmax power supply
I have a old PCIe MSI 6200XT card in there as temporary since the motherboard only has HDMI out. I needed the VGA connection. I installed the driver from the disc, which is probably dated.(Display inside of Device Manager correctly shows the card with no errors.)

I downloaded the 530MB chip set drivers from Asus's incredibly slow web site and during the install I get several errors that it cannot copy specific files. So I am left with two errors in my Device Manager---Unknown Device and PCI Device.

Everything seems to work fine on computer, but what do I do about these? I ran a Unknown Device Idenifier and it indicates that the unknown devices have to do with Asus items that I not familiar with. A bunch of stuff that is over my head, that I assume has to do with the motherboard since most of it has Asus as the manufacturer.

Did you go to the Details tab of the driver-Device Instances ID and then google the first of what's listed. You can also download drivermax and it has an option to detect unkown drivers, but you first have to do a complete scan of all drivers. It's free, but you have to create an account.

try to manually install the devices by going into device manager and update driver...go to the folder where you uncompressed the 530 mb file let the computer find the drivers. they should be there. sometimes it has to be done manually. since you did add that video card try to go to manufacturers site and get the latest drivers.

or you can download the 100,000 windows drivers from some torrent site the file is about 800 mb compressed for a total of 1.5 gigs of drivers and try it that way

Ok, thanks everyone.
I used the drivermax, nice little tool. It found several outdated drivers which I had it go ahead and update. I had it do a search for unknown devices and it came back that it was unable to find any. I still had my two issues.

I then googled the device instance id of the Unknown Device item and somebody said it was the AMD Cool n Quiet driver, so I installed that, but no change. Then somebody else said it was ASUS AIBooster. So I downloaded that driver and YAHOOOO, it took care of it!!

So now I'm down to just the PCI Device. The device instance id of this one is pci ven_10de&dev driver. I'll keep you posted how I solve this one, since you all are dying to know .

What PCI devices that you have installed are not listed in the device manager? Are you using onboard sound or a PCI sound card? Is there a memory card reader installed? Those are the most common unknown devices in my experience.

Strangely, on one of my reboots I got a Overclk error with the description EAccess Violation. I googled that and they said its the AIBooster....the very item that fixed my Unknown Device. So I rebooted a couple of times and it remained. So I uninstalled AIBooster and the error message went away and to my surprise Unknown Device did not come back in Device Manager.

So, now it was on to the PCI device error. I googled the device instance ID and some people were saying it could be the audio. I do not have any cards in the PCI slots only my video card in the PCIe. It was then I hooked up a pair of speakers and realized I had no sound. So I downloaded the Realteck Audio driver from ASUS. I installed that and I got sound! But now I had a High Definition Audio error in Device Manager and the PCI device was gone. I then manually updated the driver and specified the Realtek driver folder which did not work. So I then tried again and this time directed it to the 530MB Chipset package driver folder under HD Audio and that did it.

My device manager is now clean. Thanks for all the help!!!

Haha everytime I dl drivers from asustek.com I feel like I'm gonna get infected w/ something lol.
