I created this UBCD for Windows on a Dell Optiplex with XP PRO sp3.
I have used it many times on different manufacturers computers.

I am now working on an HP Pavillion with an AMD Athlon 64 bit CPU.
The O/S was Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
The computer boots off the UBCD, starts loading Windows and then a BSOD with error code 0x0000007b is displayed.

The client really messed up this computer by trying a recovery from the CDs which failed and then from the recovery partition which also did not finish.

However, when booting off the UBCD the status of the Master Boot Record should not generate a BSOD, should it?

All assistance is appreciated.

I agree as the state of the hard drive is of no consequence to ubcd as it runs from the cd and loads itself in to the RAM.

But a quick google of that error and can be cuaed by a mbr virus but Microsoft has a couple different problems for that same error code, the one I think matches your problem is this one.

FROM MICROSOFT:

Device Driver Issues
You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message in the following scenarios:

* A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
* A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.
* Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.

Windows XP requires a miniport driver to communicate with the hard disk controller that is used to start your computer. If Windows XP does not supply a device driver for your controller or if Windows XP is using a corrupted or incompatible driver, you must replace the driver with a valid copy that is compatible with your controller and Windows XP.

I think your UBCD does not a have a compatibly driver for the hard drive and thats why your getting the error.

Maybe unplug the drive and run your ubcd and see what happens.

When I started making my live XP discs I had problem with Sata drives not being recognized and IDE worked fine until was able to add a whole bunch more drives.

Yes, I read that KB article.
Can you please point me in the right direction as to where to find the drivers and load them into the UBCD for Windows?
Thanks in advance.

IDE will make it compatible with the driver on your boot disk. The other solution is to find RAID/SATA driver and integrate it into your boot disk.

The IDE setting worked. Thank you.
I am sure that I have used this CD on SATA systems before.
I have done some more research and I am not the only one who is having difficulty with UBCD for Windows and AMD SATA.
