The computer repair business is one of our two main niches.
Currently our WEB site promotes our other products and services which *is* computer related but is very different than computer repair.
In other words, we have obtained our computer repair clients as a result of our other computer related products and services as well as word of mouth.

We are in the process of designing a WEB site for the computer repair portion of our business.
My question is should we use two distinct domain names or one?
www.accounting.com, www.repair.com or
domain/accounting.htm and domain/repair.htm

I would probably make two separate sites but have links to both somewhere.
The one thing that I *do not* think that I want to do is have two company names.
Then you have to start getting involved with double the work in terms of collecting/remitting sales tax, accounting, etc.
Would you have two separate phone numbes?

No, I'd say you can have the same phone number.

One advantage of having two sites is it will be easier to market. If they are both combined together, I would think it would be harder to get a high ranking in Google. If they are separate, people searching for repair will find repair and accounting will find accounting. I hope I'm making some sort of sense lol. It sounds good in my head.

i'd say get the domains and re-direct them to your site accordingly...
i.e. accounting.com could goto accounting.doman.com/ for example (if you can make sub domains or domain.com/accounting/ if you can't or what not)

and vice versa

That's exactly what I would do :)

I do think that I follow this. Sorry.
How many domains would I actually own in your example?

I would just set-up the two sub-domains i.e. accouting.domain.com and repairs.domain.com and design the two sites seperatley. It then shows that they derive from your main company (branches in a way) so are instantly associated.
