Toshiba tecra m9 bios password

clear cmos
remove cmos battery whilst battery and unpluged from wall outlet power.
normally works. but i do think u can contact toshiba and go thru it with them most bios might have like a master code or some bios code that can be generated to unlock it

Ask the person HE stole it from? ;) Seriously, Tosibha laptop password resets usually require the intervention of Toshiba tech support who require proof of ownership.

Thanks!

Those things are a nightmare and I assure those that think something unseemly has transpired all the time that they are dead ass wrong!

its non of my concern wheather its stolen or not

i have to do this job cuz its a customer machine:D

I have a friend with a Toshiba Satelite I got them a couple of years ago. They let their 8 year old son use it and when he got it back it was asking for a password. I can't see how an 8 year old could of set a BIOS password as you have to press escape and then move to the password bit.

Anyway, I got aa dongle thing that plugs into the parallel port and resets it off ebay, works a treat.

sorry to dig up an old thread but does anyone have that attachment pic again?

It was certain that it was from an m9 and not some earlier model?

damn last time that I let the nephew use the lappy again.

thanks

heres a pinout of the cable

* First cut a plug from an old DB25 printer cable, and open the casing of the plug.
* Now connect:
o Pin 1 to Pin 5 and to Pin 10 ( go from 1 to 5 and from 5 to 10)
o Pin 2 to 11
o Pin 3 to 17
o Pin 4 to 12
o Pin 6 to 16
o Pin 7 to 13
o Pin 8 to 14
o Pin 9 to 15
o Pin 18 to 25

vontreigo: thats a dead link

atyourservice 's post is correct but the printer port bypass only works with older laptops from the fact finding ive done.
and from looking at my laptop - its not exactly clear which pins to short out on the M9
