Congrats to all Tigers barrackers and supporters on their Grand Final victory! Their 37 year wait for a Grand Final win was finally realised today!
Commiserations to Adelaide Crows, they played well up to half time but the game was pretty much done after Richmond kicked 6 unanswered goals in the third quarter.
A record attendance of 100,021 saw the game at the MCG. Another 15,000 watched the game on the big screen from the Punt Road Oval next door!
Dustin "Dusty" Martin became the first player in the games history to win the AFL's most prestigious award - The Brownlow Medal "for best and fairest player for the season" - and the Coleman Medal for "best on ground" in the Grand Final for the Tigers.
An interesting fact was that in this Grand Final both teams were made up of players that had never played in a GF before. The only other time this has ever happened was the very first AFL (then VFL) Grand Final in 1890 something? Yes, that's right, over a hundred years ago!
