So, ive been thinking of starting a snow cone stand. I dont have the capital for a shop, but hey, you never know. It could work, raise enough money to at least get a good couple of months of expenses.

Of course there is the time involved, initial cost. But it might work, has anyone else done something like this to raise some capital??

Simple answer . . . no. Lol, Im sorry, I had to laugh when I read this, but you know what, I may just work. I personally raised all my money by buying broken laptops, refurbishing them, then reselling them for a profit before I opened shop.

just dont use your brand you use for pc repair. i have a friend that runs a couple different unrelated businesses.

personally if this makes me tons of money. i am putting it all in a Chic-Fil-a franchise alone a interstate. around here those things look like a printing press.

I'm pretty sure this is tongue in cheek, I hope so because I laughed as well. If it's not though and you take it seriously there isn't anything wrong with any work as long as it brings in the money!

Your post reminds me of my brother-in-laws father. He's a hustler through and through and would do anything for a buck, morality be damned. I've seen him charge businesses 5k for "custom software" that was nothing more then scripted Excel spreadsheets. He has hustled travelling retirees, pitching homemade wind turbines and solar panels to them. He ran a construction and remodeling company for awhile, hiring unlicensed subs on Craigslist for $10/hour to do the labor. I've seen him take 2 Senior Software Engineer positions then leave in 3 months, probably around the time they were realizing he is a crook. I could write a book on all the scams I've seen this man try in the past decade.

Last I heard he moved in with his brother and bought a hot dog stand in Phoenix. I'm really looking forward to visiting again soon so I can buy a hot dog from him.

I would say no.. not because I don't like sno-cones.. but because for the cost of a good sno-cone machine you could have a decent computer/supplies/parts to get the business you want started.

I started with a dual-core desktop... and not much else.

laughing at some of your guys comments :)

Well, I was serious about that stand. Something a couple of weeks ago sparked my interested, and i was like, hmmm, what the heck, why not try it.

so I did the math, and if I dont get a trailer, the total cost of starting up is about $575.

and if I get 50 people a day that buys a small cup, I can recoup my money in 8 business days.

seems favorable haha. I dont know really, I have just hit a "no growth spurt" still get a new client here and there, but have been kinda unmotivated to move forward. not that I dont want new clients, just motivation has gone kerplunk, and I might need a new endevor to keep me motivated.

If your monthly expenses for a shop would be _$X_ per month and your initial investment (paint, repairs) are _$4X_ then save for 4 months. If you can't save that much in 4 months, then you'd have trouble paying for the shop itself and shouldn't do it.

This is without resorting to snow cones.

Try selling hot dogs to people that leave the bars late night. I will gladly pay 5 bucks for a hot dog at 2am, and frequently do when I am downtown drinking. I say that would be your best profit, its portable, and people line up with a "take my money" attitude.

Small investment, and even though you do computers during the day, this is something you do on thursday-saturday nights!

I say as long as your not selling the yellow snow cones  then go for it!

Really though, you should probably put more of the time and effort that would be required into this new venture, back into your business. It sounds like you need some new business ideas to get your self motivated again. If you still cant get motivated, then maybe running a business is not for you.

LOL! The funny thing is... in this day in age... I wouldn't doubt that if you advertised YELLOW SNOW CONES.... you would have people flocking to buy one! It would be a funny joke... and would get people talking.

As long as their made from lemon juice.... and not real yellow snow! LOL!!

We are moving in the right direction, its just not as enjoyable for me as it used to be. I will always own my own business. We arent failing, so I dont think me not being motivated is a sign I shouldnt be running a business, just a sign that maybe I should find a different venture I would enjoy more. I feel like having shop would be motivating enough to keep me in the business.

Where is your market? Are you buying a stand in a location that already makes 50 sales a day (I doubt that) or do you have an area in mind?

I also agree that hot dogs (in the right market) are more lucrative than snow cones.

There are a couple of places I have in mind. There are some areas that have peanut venders, thought about setting up outside a walmart, thought about being near the beach, off the road, off a busy intersection. Not very sure yet.

that was directed at xxsilk109xx being in savannah. The Triangle in statesboro is the nickname of a triangular shaped shopping center that contains 3 or 4 bars of the big named bars, a tatto shop, and a connivence store called the fast&easy "aka fast & sleazy" which pretty much only sold soft drinks, beer and cigarettes. it's right across from the university, and right next door to the freshmen dorms (they built the dorms after, go figure)

but one of the fixtures of the triangle is hot diggity dog, a little hot dog cart.

you may have heard of Georgia Southern before, we play the Citadel in football every year, and the College of Charleston in baseball and football.
