Anyone using it? I've tried the demo and like the fact it's web based.

The only thing it seems to me missing for my needs is the ability to email/sms jobs to other staff.

I raised a support ticket asking about this and they said they'd put it on there to do list.

At the moment I''ve just got all my client info on a huge excel spread sheet which is not ideal.

Anyway just looking for comments.

Just started using it in our shop and so far so good.
We were using tsman before but wanted something web based.
The support is awesome with questions usually answered within a few minutes!
My staff really like it too.

Do yo have it linked to a shop till or anything? If so how? Also does it comes with any form of user manual there were a few screens where I was not sure the process required.

I can field that one - the user guide is lacking at the moment (http://sm.ifetch.com.au/user_guide/) covering only the configuration files, not actual usage. I am going to start working on furthering the user guide in the near future.

If there's any specific questions you have, feel free to ask :)

My question is what kind of security is set for my customers data? Names, addresses, etc?

Nevermind, I found where its not saved on your servers, its local. Facepalm

Hi Rob,

thanks for the quick and direct reply :)

I'm mainly confused about these buttons I know there are to progress a job - but what do they stand for?

To be inspected
In progress
On hold
Ready for collection
Charged/collected???

When a job is logged it is set to tbi.
When you start working on a job then you click ip.
If the job is waiting for parts or for customer approval then click on oh.
Once job is finished you set it to rfc.
Then when the customer comes to collect and pay you click in Checkout button, which appears at the bottom of the screen when you set it to RFC.
Then you get a screen asking how they paid and if you want to print a receipt and once you've done that the job gets set to C/C automatically.

Cheers for that :) Perfect except C/C = Collected/Closed (purely semantics).

That's it! It's as secure as the server you host it on. There's no encryption on userdata except for passwords (which use a secure sha1 one-way encryption).

Looks nice however I have 11 years in quickbooks enterprise is there anyway to import my client database, inventory, and work history into shop manager or do I have to start anew.

We Purchased ShopManager!

We purchased Shop Manager for our store several weeks ago. I was previously using TS MAN but also found the need for something Web Based. Shop Manager is perfect for our shop, the process of repair follows the way we do business here from start to finish.

When it comes to support, I couldn't ask for any better. I had some minor issues while installing the software on our server but when I sent out a support ticket often it would be resolved (or have some type of response) within the same day to the next day. :)

Highly recommend it if you need something simple to use. Anyways, good luck! :)

Robert I have a question for you.

I would like to try out the ShopManager. I was thinking about leasing it for a month and then buying it after that if I like it. I see the demo but you don't really get the feel for it until you use it for real. Do we still get the full discounts if I lease it and then buy it later?

Thanks for the praise, it's much appreciated!

Absolutely, there's no restrictions on the TN discounts.

Another question. I have been trying out the 30 day demo for mhelpdesk. They on there that When you create a new order you can create an estimate page. Are you able to do that with SM?

Also when we end up hosting it. Are we able to upload our logos so it shows our logo on all the pages we print out to our customers?

You could use the 'Proforma Invoice' as an estimate (which is essentially what it is anyway). The template can be easily customised to say estimate instead.

Certainly - all the printed forms are simple HTML templates, so it would just be a matter of replacing the text with an image (2 minutes work at most).
