Things I can resell?

I'm looking for some items I can resell to my clients. I'm thinking primarily of online backup and AV.

I think for online backup I'd like a firm that at least has a prescence in the UK so I have someone to call/sue if anything goes wrong. But if you think that is wrong thinking please let me know.

I'm a sole proprieter at the moment and don't have a long history of accounts to show so that appears to rule some reseller programs out. However I only want to resell stuff I genuinely believe in as being the best or at least best value.

So please let me know your suggestions?
 
For AV I would recommend Kaspersky or ESET.

More torwards Kaspersky because ESET never responded to any of my partner applications. Kaspersky does require you to have an account with a distributor.

Other things I resell are US based, so I don't think I can really help there.
 
For AV I resell TrendMicro Worry-Free. You can resell it without being a partner, but if you become a partner you can resell their hosted AV service which is pretty sweet. There is a great chance for ongoing recurring revenue here and the licenses are so cheap you can make a pretty good markup, especially on renewals.

Online backup reselling is very disappointing because they are all so expensive and margins are razor thin. Some I've found have a high initial cost, one even expected me to buy a bunch of storage up front and then leaves it up to me to sell (or not). My favorite, ibackup.com, doesn't really have a reseller program.

With that said, one computer magazine I read had a review of Symform, and they promise up to 50% margins. Looks interesting, you sell the service, and basically they use your hard drive to store other people's (encrypted) data, and your data is stored on the hard drives of other customers. All the data is distributed throughout the customer base, so if a node drops offline your data is recreated somewhere else.

I am in the US and resell Carbonite....unlimted online back up.....I think a couple other T'Nibblers use them too.

Would you mind sharing what the reseller benefits and margins are? Their website doesn't divulge any details until after you sign up. In my area, if I can't sell it a little cheaper than the customer can get it themselves I won't get the sale.

You need to be reselling a lot of AV software to meet ESET's requirements. I believe their base package is $500/month to meet the minimum. I think for most people that's going to be pretty tough to meet.

As a reseller my subscriptions cost me $39.96. I then resell it for $65 which includes installing and configuring it.
 
We are a Kaspersky partner here in the UK. The requirements are pretty simple as you actually work through a distributor. The only real requirement is that you are credit worthy and that you are connected in some way to the computer industry. I don't think the second one is an actual requirement if you can convince them you can shift their product in large quantities. We don't sell a huge amount, but when customers ask me if it will happen again after cleaning out viruses I say "Yes, I can almost guarantee it unless you get yourself a decent anti-virus installed". I let them ask me which one I would recommend and then tell them about Kaspersky; it sort of sells itself. You don't make a fortune from it but the mark up is pretty good.

Think of it as a score card... How many of them do you currently do?

A-Squared AntiMalware is what we recommend to all our customers. It is perfect for those who need complete protection from connecting to 'bad' links.

With "Surf Protection" set to "Block Silently" or "Block and Notify," users simply cannot connect to a 'host' that is either part of the signature base, or triggers a HIPS reaction.

That's true, but you can get an 18% commission without minimum sales as an Affiliate reseller. I haven't read the fine print yet, but their new accounts rep sent me this short list of benefits:

# 18%+ commission
# 60-day window for purchases to occur
# Offers like "25% off 2-year Licenses"
# Latest banner art and copy
 
I think it's worth mentioning again that anyone can resell TrendMicro Worry-Free security, which is network-based antivirus. You have to sell at least 5 licenses to your customer, so you can't sell just 3 or 4 licenses, but if you need to sell 6 that's fine.

After the first year, you can sell them virus renewals which are dirt cheap. I install the software on their server (usually as the default IIS website on Win2k3 or Win2k8 server) and then push out the client through the login script. You can configure the software to email you when the license is almost ready to expire, so you can call the customer and let them know that it's time to spend some money with you again!

For 5-25 licenses, MSRP is $31.99 per license for 1 year; cheaper than most off-the-shelf products. After the first year, the renewal price drops to $13.99! A 2 year renewal is $23.99, so a little less than $12 a year!

Sounds pretty good. Do you have to have a link on your site for them? I'm assuming yes. I hate that.
 
ESET have no minimum order requirements for UK Partners, i've signed up to be a re-seller, you can get pretty good margins and get great deals on some licenses eg, for non-profit/charity organisations etc.
 
Thanks guys I'll check some of those out. I used to rate ESET very highly and I'm guessing it's still good so that would be something I'd be happy to recommend for sure.
 
Yeah, i'd recommend it if I didn't have to go through hoops to get my comission. Either way, I think Kaspersky is just as good. I am just happy to be able to recommend a brand I trust.

I don't understand why ESET wants to limit their partners. I guess they want to corner the home market and small business themselves.
