The rest of the world is probably laughing at us.....

You've just come to that realisation?
No, I've known it for a long time. Read that article and it just raised my ire further.
I'm sick and tired of "Telco's" telling their clients they are "on the NBN" and charge them more than their old plan when in reality they are still utilising their old copper lines to connect to an exchange that may have a Fibre connection. FTTN.

I agree it soooooo embarrassing. Unfortunately modern day Australian politics is ruled by the selfish, ill informed minds with no long term forsight for the country. I say that meaning any major party and probably minor parties as well involved in Australia.
There should be a mandate that demmands that minds of an engineering or scientific nature be allocated to seats of a party. Overwhelmingly though the Australian political arena is run by the legal fraternity, hence the constant bickering and arguiing simply to win an argument for their own personal satisfaction and to stroke their own egos.

I've heard lots of horror stories of people being forced to switch over from their functional ADSL to the dysfunctional NBN and end up with no internet at all and no one will take responsibility for it. I dread the day they start looking in my direction. Mr Trumball has a lot to answer for.

Now you've done it. This is my angry topic that sets me off

Im moving houses soon and my new location happens to have NBN. I ask what type and they wont tell me. I sign up anyway because I need internet and they are all excited for me because I have new and amazing HFC.

HFC!?!? I had that **** 20 years ago.

I'm only 40 minutes from a major Capital City. Our choices for "broadband" are still limited to 20Gb on a 4g plan for $120 month or slow as **** adsl for about 80$ month! or 12mbps Wimax! Iv'e been waiting about 4 years for NBN but I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime!

It is quite ridiculous isnt it - Although i cant complain im on Telstra Cable and getting usually 130Mbps down but tonight is 107 which is still pretty good.

But at my full time work we can only get 4MB down using TPG Fibre and may as well be on ADSL as the fibre is like $199 a month.

Damn I was already raging. What really does my head in is how someone of the intelligence of making that sort of statement gets a position as CEO of a major entity.
Yes the infrastructure to have completed the NBN as FTTH would have cost a fair amount of coin. But it is infrastructure.
I can imagine our modern day pollies with building such things as the Sydney harbour bridge, and Snowy Hydro scheme. I can see it now the harbour bridge would be hanging from both sides with no structure joining in the middle, and lets damn this land but forget about the turbines.
