Several computer repair outlets in the UK have been left red-faced after their employees were caught on camera hacking into customers' private details and trying to charge for unnecessary repairs.

Sky News installed surveillance software on several laptops, each with an easy-to-fix loose memory chip, and dropped them off at stores around London.

Many of the stores proceeded to dig into folders on the machines marked private, and one even tried to use fake details planted on the computer to hack into a customer's bank account.

In addition, several of the techs falsely claimed repairs need to be done over and above the loose memory chip, in order to charge more.
