Technician Licenses

Hello.

I am fairly forgetful, but I had thought that there was a malware subforum here previously! I can't seem to see it now, so I apologise if this is posted in the wrong place. Nevertheless, I am having a bit of trouble knowing what anti-malware software to use for a budget technician.

You see, I have used malwarebytes for the majority of my repairs, alongside a few others, but I have only recently been made aware that malwarebytes requires a technician license far beyond my budget (and I'm sure many peoples). Hitmanpro seems something similar, though I have had trouble finding any actual tech license quotes. I was just wanting to know what everyone else has taken to use, as I have had to make do with ADW, ASMBR and TDSSKiller, but I have found that even this combo has let through infections that Hitman was able to find.

Any advice is much appreciated, I am soon beginning my third year of being a self employed technician and want to make sure that everything is done properly, I could use any tips that I can get!

Thank you,

Darran.

There is a virus sub-forum but new members are not granted immediate access to certain forums.

As far as licensing goes, if you're making a real go at running a business, you're going to be very careful about your tools. MBAM doesn't even seem to be offering a tech license (not last I checked). SuperAntispyware was (is?) and I bought into that.

Aah I see. Yes you are right, truth be told, until now the prospect of tech licenses hadn't crossed my mind, I had assumed that free subscriptions were enough until I had read the licencing agreements for Mbam and Hitman.

From what I have read so far it seems that MBam has had a tech license in the past, but it has now been replaced by their usb tool, which will come to a $400 annual subscription. Far too much. Hitmanpro prohibits ttechnician use but doesn't seem to have a license to suit. I will have to look at SuperAntispyware.

It's not just AV apps but imaging apps, partition tools and others that have these stupidly prohibitive licensing for techs.

I must say this is not echoed in the posts on here where people will say "I've tried MBAM, SAS, Hitman, Kasperksy....". Read into that what you will!

I know what you mean. I am trying to stand by as much freeware as possible. It is quite difficult to work out what to do, I am sad to hear that SuperAntispyware is one also, as I have found it handy in the past.
