Here's a screenshot of a video breaking down this phone. I replaced the screen and the earpiece isn't working. In examining the piece I don't see where any damage was, and noted that it isn't attached to to motherboard in any way. How does it work independently? Customer can't hear his caller at all. I'm perplexed as this is going to cost me a fortune if I don't fix it. Thanks for any input.

I've never replaced a screen before but did you look at the old screen to see if there is something stuck to it that needs to be transferred to the new one? I have a friend who replaced the screen on an iPhone 7 once and had the same issue. Turns out there was a vital piece that was stuck to the old screen. He replaced that and everything worked fine.

This is the original one, the area is where the metal ruler ends...see? It only attaches there.

Clearer photos I hope. I saw that video @NJW and that's exactly how it came out, do you see that it's not attached to the mother or daughterboard? How can this be? The law of physics does not seem to apply here..lol! First one is the space it came out of the second is the tiny speaker screen next to the camera holes.

Those pads on the flat cable must be the "connector". Not all connections have fasteners like molex connectors, screw terminals, etc. Just look at a laptop battery. Those have spring loaded connectors. Many, if not most, speakers are two wire devices.

Not really. I'd never heard of the phone until your post, so it's difficult without any context (but hey, why should that stop me? 😂 ).

From the view in the video that I posted, I imagined that those two pads at the end of the flex cable made contact with whatever was removed from immediately above the flex cable, contact maintained by screwing down the board. Is that not the case?

Reviewing the video, there are two spring contacts on the back of the mainboard, near the cameras and towards the edge of the board:LG_V40_2021-01-26_11-31.png

As I gave the phone back to the client until the new one arrives, I will check that when I further test it. Thank you!
