I just worked on a laptop made by a company called Nexlink. I had never heard of the company before my client brought the machine to me. The system came with no media but it had a restore partition with software called "Nexlink Factory Restore center". Upon activation of the application I went through the normal procedure of confirming format and erasure of all files and resetting to factory settings.
After the format and copy of files (no program was identified while doing this) Nero9essentials came up to finish restoring the rest of the software on the machine. I copied down some of the other apps that were run during the process because I was interested in being able to build systems with a restore partition that didn't need recovery medium. The other apps that were run were all part of Nero: imageXPressinstall, NeroLicense and NeroSmartStart. All in all it was a very easy and quick restoration process and I wold like to look into it for use on the systems that I build in the future.
I guess I would like to know if there is other software out there that allows for builders to create a restore partition that can be activated without any discs. If so, what software is this and what would your recommend?
On another note, has anyone here ever heard of Nexlink computers? They seem to be a small custom build shop and their notebooks show it as they are a little klunky but it makes me question the possibility of building your own laptop.
