Greetings oh good people.

I've set up a NAS for multiple users.

The user can login ok, and access their private folders,....... But how do they log out ?

I don't want their colleagues being able to browse others private folders,....

Or is it just a case of the user logging out of their Windows Profile. ?

How do you guys handle private folders ?

I usually map a drive letter to the user's private folder. That means if that user leaves his computer on and logged in, anyone can open up Explorer and see the private folder. This is no different than a domain with a server. Security is up to the machine. Set a screensaver with a password to re-enter. Tell them to log out of Windows if they need to be away but otherwise need to have their machine running (like for remote access).

Even if they are just using the UNC path, as far as I know, the account will have to be logged out of Windows in order to make sure someone else won't be able to access those folders without a password. However, if people have their own private data, they should be using their own private profiles, and they should be locking their profile when away from the computer.

How exactly did you set them up? Were credentials saved? This is really a local machine security issue. Meaning they need to have screen savers with passwords.
