So, i get a call from a client telling me he his usb ports no longer work. I am thought this would be a "straight forward" fix. If there is such a thing.
I take a look at his PC and the is the yellow ! (code 10) in device manager for the "standard enhanced pci to usb host controller". I tried the uninstall reinstall method thinking that would do the trick but alas no dice.
His PC had all sorts of other issues, ie viruses malware and just generally slow. I decided to go the backup, format then reinstall windows route. After the fresh install of windows I was hoping this would correct the usb problem but I am still getting the same error in device manger
yellow ! (code 10)
The PC has windows xp pro sp3 installed and i updated the motherboards (Intel® Desktop Board D101GGC) chipset drivers hoping that would do the trick but that didn't word either.
Bytheway I also checked in the bios to make sure it was enabled and of couse it was.
Any Ideas?
