SSD drives prices dropping

Wow just less than 5 months ago I got a 1Tb samsung ssd for a customer and paid $250 for that lol. Crazy.

That's QLC. Absolute TRASH. I'm surprised Intel is putting their name on that product. I personally won't touch anything but MLC (or TLC in a pinch). ALL of my personal SSD's are MLC except for the SSD I keep my images on. Those images are backed up and aren't critical (they can be remade in a few hours if necessary). But I wanted a cheap 1TB SSD so I opted for a Toshiba 1TB TLC drive. It was $200 cheaper than the Samsung at the time.

Now you can get a 1TB Samsung MLC drive for $128 so I'm probably going to replace the old Toshiba:

Yep. Just bought 3 refurbed workstations for a customer. I was going to get them with SSD's. But it was cheaper to buy them with spindles and the SSD's (EVO's) separately.

Noticed that too. I'm going to just roll with Samsung for all if the prices stay this inexpensive.

Good idea, I am actually planning to order two refurbs within the next several days. I have two clients planning to replace PC's and it's nice to have something on hand to get them rolling faster. If you don't mind sharing, what is your refurb source? I have been using Ingram's CPO division with good results but always open to new options. All of the units I have ordered from them come with a 1-year replacement warranty.

I'm buying as I need and trying not to keep more than a few in stock.

Must be nice. Unfortunately we have to keep at least 100 in stock at all times. Prices are dropping like a freaking rock and I've got over 600 250GB SSD's in stock. I'm keeping the price on my shelf high and will use these only for installing into client computers so I can up-charge them like I normally do. Gotta get through these as fast as possible. I don't sell a lot off the shelf, but enough to clear a few extra thousand $$$ a month in profit. I usually carry a $10 - $20 price premium on the ones on the shelf, and a $100 price premium on ones I install in client systems, but now those $10 - $20 price premiums are turning into $30 - $60 price premiums. I doubt many people will pay that much for the "convenience" of buying it in my store. Gotta keep the price premiums lower. Problem is, retail prices on Newegg and such are now below my cost.

But I suppose I shouldn't complain. Back when prices were shooting through the stratosphere I made out pretty well because I had a good stock of them, so I guess it all evens out in the end.

I try to stay local where possible. Got a Microcenter not too far away so they get a lot of my business, including the refurbs. The refurbs are from microcad.ca. I did look at Arrow years ago but they never had anything that was a great buy.
