I often just use Ebay or Amazon for parts but this one is proving to be a little more difficult.

I need a bottom case for an HP Pavilion G7-2017US laptop. I don't need these very often so don't have a regular supplier. Anyone have an idea where I can get this?

Thanks -

You can probably find one that will work not being the exact model number. Shoot us a picture of the bottom.

go to ebay and look for "g7-2000 bottom" match it up to what you have and see if its the same. Check all mounting screws for same internal layout.

I just didn't want to get a one-size-fits-several bottom and then realize I didn't notice some particular screwhole and have it not work.

Here are the pictures of the one I am replacing:

Also inside the battery bay is the product sticker. That has the full model number. A search on that with "parts list" on google can often turn up part numbers.

Only time I have had to buy a bottom, I went directly to HP. I, like you, didn't want to buy a "It Should Fit" but rather a "It Definitely Fits!"

Gotta use IE, but http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx works well... No guarentees you'll find it though. And just because the part number doesn't match, doesn't mean its not the right part, they like to change part numbers like they change their pants...

You don't have to use IE with partsurfer. I've never had an issue in over 12 years using other popular browsers.

You need to plug in the serial number to be sure to see the part number of what you need. Serial number pulls up the BOM which should have all of the part numbers, including plastics. On occasion the serial comes up short. So you can use the HP part number.

Plastics usually show up under the category of cover. They will note in the description if there is a substitute part number.
