Now this gets interesting. On that same Youtube page in the comments section there is a "supposed" statement from the guy getting maced. Take this for what its worth...

OFFICIAL VICTIM STATEMENT IN REGARDS TO THIS VIDEO POST

Brought Windows 8 computer into The Computer Guy shop because of an internet crash on spouses Windows 8 Lap Top that was currently being used for photo editing..

Computer tech said he knew nothing of Windows 8, couldn’t stand it, and recommended upgrading to Windows 10.

I told him there was a program that I used for work and could not afford to upgrade the program and it was detrimental to my work.. The internet was only secondary. Since I did not know if the program was compatible, I told him to save us both time and money I would leave my business card. He was to do some research on the issue to find out if it was compatible with Windows 10. If it was, he would call me and get authorization to do the upgrade.

I left and drove the 4 miles to the next city to inquire on the issue with the local computer store.

They said that it was a recent issue with the AVG upgrade. They had currently been dealing with the issue with several of the other customers and it as a quick fix in the permissions settings. They also told me that they knew for a fact that my program was compatible with Windows 10.

I then called The Computer Guy and asked if he had found out any info on the compatibility issues.

He stated that he had not had the time to even look into the matter. I told him that at that time I was interested in alternative solutions and would be by to pick up the computer.

After picking up Step Daughter from school bus I went into the computer shop to retrieve computer.

The owner demanded $49.

I told him that since he admit-tingly did nothing and spent no contracted or otherwise time on the issue what the charge was for. He said if I wanted the computer back it would cost me $49. I then told Step Daughter to go outside and call 911. She left.

I told the owner that if I have paid him for I reached to unplug my computer that was in the universal customer allowed / work space.

He then grabbed the lap top raised over his head, threatening to hit me with it, circling around to trap me in store.

I told him that he was trying to rob me and that he should not conduct business in such a way and if he had in fact did any work I would have no issues paying him.

He then proceeded to pull out the can of Bear Mace. I put my hand up in protection stating that he should think this trough and he would go to jail.

He then proceeded to mace me and pummel me out of his store where I remained until authorities arrived.

He refused to produce any video footage at the time stating that I came in and tried to rob him of a Lap Top.

The police said that they would try to get completer video footage from him but until they where able to retrieve the video footage, it was his word against mine and they would file a report that should be available to me in 48 to 72 hours. The owner said that due to complications from being maced he was unable to retrieve video but seemed had no issues giving the two sheriff deputies bottled waters.

I ended up in the emergency room that evening due to eye irritation and blurred vision.

The sheriff department failed to have any reports available after two weeks of inquiries. I was given a report number by the Clerk at the sheriff station after she took my phone number and said that she would contact me as soon as the report was ready. I have yet to receive any calls.

About two weeks later this edited video surfaced on You Tube entitled “BEAR MACE VS THIEF” This video was posted by the owner of The Computer Guy where he also edits in false subtitles.

Due to pending actions and to protect the facts and evidence in this case this is just a summary of the events that took place in this incident.

I am not the only person that has been victimized and or ripped off by this owner/ computer guy. Just the first one to stand up to him.

This was a very unfortunate and embarrassing situation and will continue to seek justice in this matter.

Devine..

Weird, the bear mace guy "loved it" Devine's reply

It showed the owner of the channel liking it, and I think it's the guy in the video.

I understand that. But this is really beginning to look like some kind of manufactured internet meme thing. As our esteemed president noted you can't always believe what you read on the internet. The first link shows over 10 million views, not sure what the date is, but it makes me wonder. No real prurient content. The second clip linked literally sounds like an updated version of a Billy May's advertisement.

Yeah, I get it, good entertainment. With the exception of the macing, this could have been a hoax too. Who knows!

Stranger things have happened. I snagged a screen shot from the second clip that I noticed. Classic advertisement product placement pose. One hand on the product, the other underneath supporting it, put forward with face of the announcer visible. Now if it had been a pipe or a bat I'd think differently. No one brags about where their water pipe or bat came from.

If this is in fact current and legit, I'd absolutely expect charges to develop against the shop owner - the mace, the threatening to hit him with the laptop (assault), and the kick in the back of someone incapacitated (battery).

For what it's worth, I never intend to get close enough to a bear to mace one.

Actual training for the use of OleoResin Capsicum (pepper spray) (it's not called MACE anymore..MACE is chemically based..and some people don't get affected by it, OC is bio based..actual pepper oil..no living thing is immune to it)...you are supposed to be at a distance and baking away at the charging attacker...spraying the cloud in front of them. The immediate idea is for them to inhale the cloud of mist...and it makes your lungs feel like they exploded like napalm, and you collapse in pain as you struggle to breath. The burning of the eyes is just a nice side effect.

It's not supposed to be something you shoot in their face point blank or at 1 foot range. Because you get the unfortunate benefit of also breathing the mist. In this video, you can see the shop owner step into that cloud about 3 seconds after he blasted the guy. He walked back and forth through it twice, as he kicked the guy. Which was a physical exertion which would have him inhaling to build the strength for the kick. Either he's used it before (training) and is disciplined enough to hold his breath. Or...it's a fake staged video. Else if he inhaled it he would also be on the ground coughing up pretty good. So if I had to bet a pint of Guinness, I'd say it's staged.

I know this because back in my law enforcement days, I was an assistant instructor for OCAT classes. I got to experience it a lot. The fun part was taking a shower when you got home, and when you rinsed your hair (yes I had hair back then)..your face got to relive the experience again as the oil droplets in your hair rinsed down across your face..eyes.

If it's not staged..I say good for the shop owner. Crooks have too many rights and they know it and get away with too much and they know too many "good" people are soft push-overs, it's good to see someone stand up to a thief.

The problem I see is that the shop owner is the one who escalated it to violence and kept escalating it up to a point that could easily lead to serious injury for someone (kick to the spine while incapacitated?). Watching the original video, I have a hard time believing that the shop owner felt threatened.

I also have to admit that based on the comments here about the customer's buddies being likely to firebomb the shop my initial expectation before I saw the video was that it was someone throwing a skinhead out of his shop. I didn't expect it to be a shop owner with a shaved head and full sleeve tattoos, and frankly given the behavior in the videos I know which group I'd expect to be causing further trouble and it's not the customer.

That said, the more I look at this the more I think "staged" not just to flog someone's pepper spray but to push an agenda.

Edit: After a quick bit of research, looks like the shop is "Phone and Computer Guys" or Mobile Computer Guy (@mobilecomputerguy on Twitter) in Redway, California. Original video on Youtube has a date/time stamp in the top corner, ~20 minutes chopped out, posted the day after the timestamp.

Edit 2: and it didn't hit the guy's Yelp page, with all of 2 reviews from 2015 one of which I think may be from his girlfriend..... "Also, he has really cute doggies a cool van and he is not bad to look at either." o_O
