Some companies don't even try

I get the occasional calls from out-of-area companies that ask me to support their customer in one way or another. Through the Contact form on my site, I got this today:

From: Brad Lastname <brad@unknowncompany.com>
Subject: Are yu opne to taking on service request from Unknown Company in future?

Message Body:
Would like to discuss service support in you region from Unknown Company.

Seemed a little...sparse.. for an email that might sprout a working relationship. I get more effort from the SEO guys that usually use that contact box.
I pulled up their website and their only contact emails were in their Sales department so I emailed them with the same quote and added "If it's legitimate, your agent doesn't tell me anything about your company. I provide mostly residential service support and do get the occasional call from a distant company to service one of their clients in my area but, at a quick glance to your website, don't immediately see how our services could overlap."

They apparently forwarded it because, 5 mins later, I get an email from the first guy that said nothing but "I had made contact with you."

No pitches. No effort to fill in the blanks...nothing.

Yeah, tell me about it.. I have tried a few "Warranty Claim" services looking for a local shop to service one of their customers. It has always been a train wreck except for ONE company that I work with. They support equipment installations and repairs for a company that does those TV monitors that run a loop for the doctor office waiting rooms. Just a 32" TV with a small form computer running XP. I made almost 10K off them last year.. moral of the story is, there are some good companies out there, but most are just plain retarded.

That domain is for sale. It can be yours for $2,295.

Could it just be a scam to boost click traffic to that domain name and thereby enhance its value?

I handled some jobs for a similar "agency" a couple of years ago.

They would have an "accredited list" (yeah right) to call upon when a customer had troubles.

As that list was largely duff, they simply went through yellow pages, and they found me.

It wasn't financially a runner, as this agency wanted a cut of the fee.

In the end, this agency manager was literally pleading with me to do a job. I still said no.

I had another call a couple of weeks later, from a new manager. Poor guy was new and didn't know what he was letting himself in for.

I offered him some friendly advice (bail out now), and asked for all my details to be deleted.
