First, let me say that I am not very familiar with camera video surveillance systems.
A bit of background:
One of my clients has a dvr based camera system.
They have a segment recorded that they need to view, provide to the police and take to court in less than a week.
The software that they are running is 'CMS'.
The native format that is produced is '.drv' and this needs to be converted to '.avi'.
The 'CSM' software itself has a conversion function but the resulting '.avi' crashes 'Windows Explore' both in Windows XP and Windows 7.
VLC cannot play the AVI and does not produce any error messages.
So, at this time I am assuming that when the CMS software converts the '.drv' to '.avi' - the resulting file is damaged.
I have searched for third party software that can convert the file but really cannot locate anything from a reliable source.
Can anyone recommend a reliable program and source for converting these '.drv' files?
BTW - in addition to the '.drv' file there is also a '.idx', 'recorddb' and a '.db'.
Thank you very much in advance.
